Muay Thai is a form of martial arts developed in Thailand where it is the national sport. It resembles other forms of martial arts from the same region, such as Lao Boxing or Malaysian Tomoi. It is known as the art of eight limbs as the fighter uses eight points of contact in battle (including the elbows and knees). Becoming a true Muay Thai fighter is a long process known as the Wai Khru tradition, and includes three major stages: initiation as a student, training and participating in fights.
Muay Thai gear includes fighting equipment such as gloves and trunks, protecting items and training accessories.
