Nunchaku

A traditional Okinawa weapon made of two short sticks connected by a short chain. The length of Nunchaku sticks should match the length of a perspn's forearms. Though traditionally made of wood, today nunchakus are fabticated from other materials as well, including metal, finerglass and plastic. It is believed that the nunchaku was traditionally used to thrash rice though this is not a verified fact.
Nunchakus are not used exclusively in Karate but rather are present in a variaty of oriental martial arts styles.
