Qiang is a type of Chinese spear used in the battlefield. It is one of the four major weapons according to Chinese tradition and is known as "the king of all weapons". It is characterised by the leaf shape of the blade and a red horse-tail ornament just before the tip. This ornament has a double purpose, one is to confuse re distract the enemy to prevent him from grabbing the spear as it approaches him, the other is to prevent the flow of blood from the blade to the handle. Length can vary between 7 and 13 feet, the spear is made of a flexible type of wood to allow it to bend under pressure.
